use Sony Vegas to edit videos

Sony Vegas is a simple program that allows you to edit videos. With a few techniques, you can edit a video, add music and then share it with family and friends.

Instructions

  • Sony Vegas video editing software
    • 1
Create a new document. Click "File" and "New" at the top and hit "OK."
    • 2
Add some footage to work with. Go to "File," "Imports," "Media" and select a video clip and a song to import. Click into the "Project media" tab.
    • 3
Create a video track and an audio track. Right-click on the side panel underneath the 00:00:00.00 and click "Add video track" and after click "Add audio track."
    • 4
Drag the song into the bottom track (the audio track) and drag the video clip into the top track. If the video has audio with it, it will create another track. If you don't want this audio, delete the audio track that it creates. After your video is placed there, select 15 seconds into it by clicking on the clip. You will see a line passing through. Click "s" to split this media into two, and delete the second half.
    • 5
Fade in using the clip that's remaining. Click in the top-left corner of the clip, and while holding the mouse button down, drag it to the right as far in as you want it to fade.
    • 6
Do a fade from 2 clips. Go to about the 8-second mark and click "s" again to split these clips. After you've done this, click on the second clip and drag it into the first clip a little bit. After this, fade out the second clip. Cut the audio by using the same method to make it match the length of the clip; you can fade it in and out.
    • 7
Select "File," "Render as" and save it. Click on the video where you saved it and see how it looks.
